Welcome to Avid Reader Reviews and I am excited to share my passion for reading with you. As far back as I can remember I have always had a book or two in process, kept in different rooms and would just pick them up whenever I found myself back in that room. It was always very easy for me to immerse myself back into that location, those emotions, of where I left off, as if I never really left.
It all started with Where The Wild Things Are. The hardcover was eventually chewed up by my dog, but I can remember carrying the softcover with me everywhere I went. This whole new world turned me on to more books and different worlds and my imagination process began with this book. Library trips became the weekly event for new books and new adventures.

Why I have become a literary critic!
My grandparents played a big role in leading me into reading with subscriptions to Boys Life and American Heritage magazines. This grew into the hardcover Hardy Boys series of books, including the detective handbook. Soon I was sneaking off with grandpa’s Ellery Queen books!
Middle school came along, required readings that I couldn’t connect with until I found Piers Anthony. I read the Xanth series and as much as I enjoyed the world of Ellery Queen, Agatha Christie and Alfred Hitchcock, I moved into fantasy. I chased most of the Magic of Xanth, fell into Narnia with C.S. Lewis and solidified my enjoyment with fantasy with J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings Trilogy and The Hobbit.
I stuck with fantasy through most of high school, until another required reading took me to The Count of Monte Cristo. For a long time, I always considered this as my favorite, but through the years, my reading journey has taken me through many genres. My belief of being a well-read student carried over from college to my professional career and now to a blog that I hope you will find as a useful and engaging tool to share exciting finds and reliving old classics. From horror to history, biographies to fiction, and almost everything in between (except romance), I am very excited to share my passion for reading and sincerely hope this blog will help you choose your next book adventure, and one we can share together!
