If you are going to spend some of it reading, I believe it should be with a book you will remember.
Not because it was the most popular.
Not because everyone else was talking about it.
But because it gave you exactly the experience you were looking for at that moment.
That is the idea behind Avid Reader Reviews.
My relationship with books began with Where the Wild Things Are. I do not remember every detail of the story. What I remember is how it made me feel.
From Where the Wild Things Are to The Count of Monte Cristo, those early reading experiences are still with me today. They taught me that readers do not remember every book they read. They remember the experiences certain books gave them.
Looking back, I think that is what I have been searching for ever since—not just books to read, but books that create experiences worth remembering.
That belief is the foundation of Avid Reader Reviews.

The Philosophy Behind Avid Reader Reviews
Books reviewed here are approached as reading experiences, not products.
Each review begins with one question:
What kind of reading experience is someone looking for right now?
The same reader may want completely different books depending on the season, their mood, their curiosity, or what they hope to feel when they finish the final page.
That is why Avid Reader Reviews evaluates books as experiences first and categories second.
Ratings are intentionally restrained. Recommendation labels exist to clarify why a book might—or might not—be the right choice for a particular reader. Not every competently written book is recommended, and not every recommendation is universal.
This site does not attempt to cover every genre or reading trend. Instead, Avid Reader Reviews focuses on fiction, classics, fantasy, science fiction, thrillers and mysteries, history, and selected nonfiction—areas where tone, judgment, reader alignment, and memorable experience matter most.
The goal is not to help readers read more books.
The goal is to help readers choose better ones.
